Jakarta

I have to say that Jakarta was one of the most ugly cities I have seen lately. It can beat Quito and Taipei with the lack of organization, terrible pollution, a filthy main river and chaotic traffic. Although the locals are the sweetest people - always smiling and really trying - they can be stupidly slow and dumb.

Massive hotels like the Hyatt and Four Seasons glow from the millions of shanti town style "huts” that people live in.
The service in these places is not bad but I still have my doubts that they deserve five stars. There are obviously Four Seasons and Four Seasons!

But I did find a couple of restaurants with amazing design. Stylish club Dragonfly is good for casual finger food dinner but better for drinks. It gets busy from midnight and the most popular nights are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Shy is a stylish French restaurant on the 4th floor of the Papillion Building and Blowfish (same owners as DragonFly) serves Japanese and Italian. Sunday is room service night as the city is dead dead dead.
